Our director: Kris Zinkievich
Kris has a Bachelor of Music from Mansfield University and a Master of Music in Education from the University of Maryland. Kris has been a music educator in the public school since 1986. He began his career in the Newburgh City School District in Newburgh, New York. After obtaining his master's degree, Kris worked in the Baltimore County Public School system for three years before accepting a position with Montgomery County Public Schools. He is currently teaching chorus and general music at Briggs Chaney Middle School in Silver Spring, where his choruses recently received superior ratings at both the county and state choral festivals.
During his tenure with Montgomery County Public Schools Kris has taught at both the elementary and secondary levels. He managed both the north and south county elementary honors choruses and spent five years directing the south county chorus.
As a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, he has sung in the quartets 4 MAD men and Gentlemen’s Blend. He was the assistant director of the Patapsco Valley Chapter before joining the Montgomery County Chapter, where he served as the director for three years. In 2009, Kris accepted the directorship of our newly-formed chapter.
